NOTD: Orly Cotton Candy!

Natalie Sunday, March 7, 2010
I saw this nail polish in LisaLisaD1's youtube video (link) on Friday and ended up purchasing it. Orly Nail Polishes are now on sale at ULTA for $4.99 (regular $7) and I believe a coupon starts today for $3.50 off your $10 purchase up that is valid till the 13th. This is a beautiful summer/spring color. It's a creamy, opaque, bright pink with a hint of coral. It's a color that would look gorgeous both on hands and toes. I think this is currently my favorite pink polish. This shade of pink is actually my favorite color (peachy pink) It's so hard to find this exact shade.. I've purchased many polishes hoping it would look like this and was left disappointed. I've been eyeballing Essie Van D'go from Essie's Spring Collection.. It looks somewhat similar to this polish but more on the peach side. Hopefully I'll be picking it up this week.

Orly Cotton Candy Nail Polish Review

Orly Cotton Candy

Orly Cotton Candy

This is two coats with no base or top coat. The finish is very shiny! But I think I will go back and add a top coat.

By the way, Does anyone know a good top coat? I don't think the ones I use work the best. My nails usually get dull in a couple of days. I was going to purchase an OPI top coat, but I wanted to do a little research first. Any suggestions would be great!

I'm in need of a cuticle cream. My cuticles are so hard and cracked. I'm planning on picking up Burt's Bee's Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream and giving it a try.

  2. Try Lush's Lemon Fluttery cream it has many uses and my mom swears by this product. She uses it on her cuticles, fingers and on the elbows and knees or rough skin...

This looks like the perfect colour for me must try it out if i can find it in the UK

  3. I'll have to pick this one up. I've never tried Orly before, but this colour looks too pretty to pass up.

Seche Vite Top Coat is the best (if you like high shine) and it makes my manis last a good 5 days, plus it dries REALLY REALLY fast.

LUSH Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter works amazing. Ask for a sample at your local LUSH (they are usually quite generous) and it will last you forever!

  4. I use Seche-vite top coat and love it.. dries so fast! Also - ihave Van D'go up for swap on makeupalley (leanne03) because when it dried it turned more of an orange than pink side of peach - i dont know why - ive never seen a polish do that.... i compared the dried hand to the newly polished and they were 2 completely diff colors so not sure...

  6. Cheryl - you'll definitely love this color! Its similar to the Sinful colors polish we both bought but brighter and prettier.

I'll stop at Lush and get a sample! Thanks (Cheryl & Jody) for the suggestion!!

3 replies for Seche Vite.. I'm sold! lol, I'll be picking it up tomorrow! TY!!

LeAnne - That's weird. I looked up swatches and some looked pastel pink, some looked like a coral pink (similar to the orly polish) and some looked purely coral. I'll probably purchase it anyway and hope for the best. LOL

  7. Out the Door for a top coat (available at Sally) or Poshe (also, at Sally). Definitely straight up avocado oil available at grocery stores or Walgreen's alpha hydroxy cream for a cuticle moisturizer.

  8. Seche Vite is amazing, you will not be disappointed by it. Be sure to buy it at Sally because everywhere else I've seen it, it's been $1-$3 more.

  11. seche vite is amazing but it gets super thick and hard to use about 1/2 way through the bottle.

  12. Seche Vite + Lemony Flutter. And make sure to buy a bottle of Seche Restore, too, because Seche Vite tends to get super thick after a while.

  13. A lot of people on the makeupalley nail board like Seche Vite or Poshe fast drying top coat.

They can get goopy after a while, but you can just buy the generic bottle of thinner at Sally's to restore it. :D
Seche Restore is also a good thinner, but I just use the Beauty Secrets one. Seche Restore contains toulene in it, which is what a lot of older nail polishes contain before the whole big 3 free thing came around, so it's good for reviving older polishes, or Seche Vite since I think it contains toulene as well. But I find my Beauty Secrets one will still revive the top coat. Sally Beauty sells all this stuff. :D

  14. Definitely try Creative Nail Design's Rejuvenator cuticle cream. I've tried Lush Lemony Flutter and the Burt's Bees one and there's nothing wrong with them, but the Rejuvenator seems to really heal the skin around the nail better than anything else.

  15. Oh my gosh... I love that color! It looks so nice against your skin tone! I've never used Orly. (It makes me think of the Orly Owl. LOL!)

Seche Vite is really nice. Right now I switch between OPI's top coat and this stuff my best friend bought me that's used on horse hooves. It actually works really well and is cheap!

Gold Bond Healing Lotion is what I use on my hands and cuticles. I have Solar Oil, too, but I hate how greasy it leaves me.

  16. you should try the sinful(from walgreens) top shine... its in a polish bottle but its more like an oil that you paint on... it dries a lot faster than polish..I just use that and not a top coat and reapply it after about 4 days... and since its so thin it doesnt make you polish thicker like a top coat... I just bought that polish too ;) because of Lisa also!lol
