Storage ideas for your makeup!

It's very often that I get asked to post my makeup collection, but the truth is, my current set-up is terrible. I have several Sterilite drawers, as well as additional baskets and bins in all areas of my room. It's all organized, but everything isn't in one place like I'd like it to be. Once I do come up with a good system, I'll definitely be sharing it with you all!

So for now, here are some photos I came across on various blogs, etc for storage ideas! None of the photos (with the exception of one) are my own - but I linked each photo to the source. So if any of the ideas peak your interest, you can click the photo for more info!

I think these acrylic drawers are are really pretty, mostly if you have a lot of department store makeup to showcase and don't have an overwhelming amount of items in each drawer. I'm not a fan of clutter and I hate looking at it - so I'm on the fence about purchasing these, but I still kind of like them. I think sometime in the future I will end up buying some for my go-to products.

This is the same way I store my makeup, and I'm sure it's the same way a lot of us store our makeup - in clear, Sterilite containers. They are easy, affordable and convenient.

A way to reduce the appearance of clutter is by lining the inside window with a patterned paper of your choice - this is actually a photo of one of my storage bins. I used zebra wrapping paper and an ad from a magazine I liked.

When using Sterilite drawers, it's a great idea to separate your products with smaller containers. It makes everything more organized so all of your products aren't jumbled together in one drawer. You can use anything - I like using empty boxes from when I purchase jewelry.

These cardboard jewelry box/office organizers are great for storage of your everyday/go-to products or if you have a small overall collection. I've spotted similar boxes as this one at Marshalls and TJMaxx.

Train cases are great as long as you don't have a ridiculous amount of makeup. It keeps everything very neat and tidy.

The Tabletop Spinning Cosmetic Organizer by Lori Greiner is a great little system to organize all of your things - and it's really affordable at $25 on QVC.

I've always wanted a vanity, but I've never really spent the time to search for my perfect one. They can be pricey, but if you shop around, you may be able to find one a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, etc.. and you can clean it up, re-paint it/stain it, add your own knobs and place a pretty mirror on top.

These drawer organizers are great for organizing your makeup, especially if you have your makeup stored in a vanity or in your bathroom drawers. I purchased one from Target and I'm currently using it to store all of my bracelets.

If you have a lot of cream shadows or cream liners - even eye shadow pots and pigments, these little organizers are really handy. They can be found at your local arts & crafts store. I think they're typically found in the jewelry crafting area for storing beads and such. I'm sure you can actually find a lot of cute containers at your local craft store.

Here's another example of an organizer that was found at a craft store. You can really store anything in it - rows of blushes, eyeshadows, etc. Karen of MBB used it to store her eye pencils by shade.

I really like this idea to store your lip pencils or eye pencils in a brush roll/case. I think it makes it much more handy than going through a drawer or cup for the color you're looking for.

I'm sure many of you have seen these by now. I've seen these little handmade lipstick holders on several sites in various designs. It's a cute idea, but I think it would be a little difficult distinguishing which color is which, unless you organize them in rows by color - even then I'd think you'd have trouble finding the color you're looking for.

There are also these acrylic lipstick holders which you can store your lipsticks upside down, making it much easier to tell which lipstick is which. You can find these on eBay by typing in "acrylic lipstick holder".

I also really like the way Cheryl stores her brushes!

What a cute way to store your brushes rather than boring brush cups! I have the urge to go out now and look for cute candle holders that would fit my brushes.

If you keep your brushes in cups, It's a good idea to keep your shorter brushes (mostly kabukis) in a smaller container for easy access. If you don't like the look of plastic containers, you can use baskets. They have cute ones at Dollar Tree and you can customize them however you'd like. You can grab a can of silver or gold spray paint and tie a few ribbons around the sides and you'll have an adorable little place to keep your brushes.

CD/DVD Racks make good holders for your MAC palettes. You can also use Letter Organizers/Mail holders. You can find super cute ones at Marshalls and TJMaxx - otherwise you can find standard ones at any office supply store.

How do you store your makeup?

  8. You just had to put something from QVC in the mix. I can't stop buying from them:) I'm in the process of painting a vanity for my room and I love the idea for the plastic bins because I have those. I'm going to print of some pretty designs to stop the cluttered look on my tables now. THanks

  10. I love all the ideas here :) I've been trying to collect as many Muji drawers as I possibly can to fit all my makeup but it doesn't help that they are always out of stock :/ I did find a semi-affordable clearcube look alike on eBay, but still on the fence about it. I just hate paying $$$ for storage. Currently I am storing my collection in Container Store drawers, which is ok for now.

  14. I actually have a bit of everything you showed here.
I got the acrylic drawers which I love but it can be a bit tiring to the eye to have everything on show.
I got a big 9 drawer thing too to put everything in there and I take out what I'm going to wear during the week.
I always find something interesting in other people's storage organisation. :)

  22. Love this organization ideas! Not really a fan of the spinner looks-wise but it seems really functional - uses less space but all the items are immediately accessible by a spin.

Really like your idea of using patterned paper to make the see-through storage drawers look nicer. :)
